Genetic Counseling Graduate School Interview Practice Test

The Boston University program emphasizes working with diverse and underserved communities during clinical rotations because these populations often experience unique challenges related to accessing healthcare resources, understanding genetic conditions, and receiving appropriate counseling. By focusing on these communities, students are exposed to a variety of cultural perspectives, socioeconomic factors, and health disparities that are critical for developing effective communication and counseling strategies.

This experience not only enhances the students' understanding of genetic conditions in different contexts but also prepares them to address the specific needs of populations that may lack access to genetic services. Engaging with diverse and underserved groups allows future genetic counselors to advocate for equitable healthcare and learn how to tailor their approach to fit the individual needs of patients from various backgrounds.
